Heritage Oaks

Nevada County Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce our Heritage Oaks Project, a multiple 16 home development on Joyce Drive in Grass Valley, California.

This is our first “green” development and we plan to apply sustainable, energy efficient building methods and materials.  We received LEED certification on the first two units and are potentially seeking it for the entire 16 home project. All of the homes will be Energy Star certified.  100% of the units will be affordable and 100% owner occupied.   All homeowner families must earn 30%-60% of AMI to be eligible and contribute a minimum of 500 sweat equity hours to help build their homes.

The site is a 1.68‑acre parcel located within the city limits of Grass Valley on the edge of the City's Redevelopment District.  The project includes 16 homes, consisting of 2, 3, and 4 bedroom units with single car garages. Most units are two story to minimize the footprint and the site plan includes 2 duplexes.

We received grants to fund the land purchase and infrastructure, and are now focusing our fundraising efforts on home construction. The homes will be completed in phases with an average of 2-4 per year, over the next 4-5 years. The Heritage Oaks project will help us achieve our capacity building goals and serve more families by increasing our home building average of 1.6 to 4 homes annually over a three-year period.

Please feel free to stop by the site at anytime and take a look at our progress!
